Fix Xbox App “There was a problem loading installation locations try again”

As a game love one might to try different types of games and PS 5 and Xbox One, Series X have lifted the standard of gaming industry. But recently some users are facing issue with the Xbox App that they are not able to download new games to Xbox as it keeps on giving storage error “There was a problem loading installation locations try again” .
This is a different type of issue that the Xbox users are facing and are not sure what should be done to fix the issue. The issue is seen with Xbox app on Windows 10 and Windows 11 and the particular issue started after updating the app to new version.
What is causing “problem loading installation locations” on Xbox APP :
The issues reported to start after latest Xbox App update and this update is considered to be causing the issue. Specifically for many users who are not able to download the games due to HDD installed in their PC. The HDD id slower then SSD and using HDD seems to be primary reason for the error. Specially if the OS is on different drive (SSD/HDD) and the games is installed on the different drive.

Fix : Reinstall the Xbox app and Gaming service
To fix Xbox App not downloading games try to uninstall both Xbox app and Gaming service from your PC. Now connect to a stable network and reinstall the Xbox App and Gaming services. Once done you can try to download the game and it should work now. Please follow below steps :

- Right click on the Windows Menu and choose Installed apps.
- Search for Gaming Services, and click the 3 dots and select Advanced options.
- Click Terminate, Reset and Repair – not sure if order matters.
- Do the same for Microsoft Store and Xbox app.
However the issue is reported due to recently changes in the Xbox App update which seem to broke many things for Windows 10/11 users. Hopefully next update of Xbox App will be provided with stable fix.
