Facebook Marketplace Links Not Working? Here’s Why and How to Fix It

If you’ve clicked a Facebook Marketplace link and it didn’t open — or showed an error like “This page isn’t available right now” or the link is not clickable, then you’re not alone. Many users report Marketplace links working on desktop but failing on mobile, especially inside the Facebook app.

In this guide, we’ll explain why Facebook Marketplace links stop working and provide step-by-step fixes that actually solve the problem.

Facebook Marketplace Links Not Working? Here’s Why and How to Fix It

Users typically experience one of the following:

  • Marketplace link opens briefly, then returns to feed
  • Blank white screen in Facebook app
  • “Listing not available” error
  • Works on computer but not mobile
  • Opens in browser but not inside Facebook app
  • “Content isn’t available right now” message

These issues are more common on Android, but iPhone users also report them.

Why Facebook Marketplace Links Are Not Working

1. Facebook In-App Browser Problem

Facebook uses its own internal browser when you click links inside the app. This in-app browser is known to:

  • Fail to handle redirects properly
  • Crash silently
  • Return to feed unexpectedly
  • Block certain parameters in URLs

Often, the Marketplace listing is still live — the problem is how the Facebook app loads it.

2. Expired or Removed Listing

If the seller:

  • Deleted the listing
  • Sold the item
  • Had their account restricted

You may see:

“This content isn’t available right now.”

Marketplace links stop working immediately once a listing is removed.

3. Location Restrictions

Marketplace listings are location-based. If:

  • The seller restricted visibility
  • You’re accessing from a different country
  • Your Marketplace region settings changed

The link may fail.

Check your Marketplace location settings inside Facebook.

4. App Cache Corruption (Android)

Corrupted cache is a very common cause.

Fix:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap Apps
  3. Select Facebook
  4. Tap Storage
  5. Tap Clear Cache

Many users report this instantly fixes broken Marketplace links.

5. “Open Supported Links” Conflict (Android)

Android sometimes routes Facebook links incorrectly.

Fix:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap Apps
  3. Choose Default Apps
  4. Select Opening Links
  5. Tap Facebook
  6. Toggle OFF “Open Supported Links”

This forces Marketplace links to open correctly in browser.

6. Try Opening in External Browser

If Marketplace link fails inside Facebook:

  1. Tap the three dots (top right)
  2. Select “Open in External Browser”

If it opens there, the issue is Facebook’s internal browser.

You can also enable:

Facebook Settings → Media/Preferences → Open Links in External Browser

This often fixes link issues permanently.
